I tried your suggestion for flow from a recent live office hour, specifically for a student who tends toward a production that is too pressed for his classical sound. I too had used soft onsets in the past as way of teaching that, but for a lot of students it takes too long or it’s hard to make the connection. The idea of “thinking of some head voice with that” worked great for this singer! He looked at me and said, “Oh my God, that feels so much better.” It was awesome!
